Testimonials
"Joining Ashurst Reach has been one of the smartest decisions I have made for my career. I now have the ability to rapidly extend my practice across new sectors; network with an inspiring circle of professionals including the Ashurst community; grow in confidence sharing my skill set with both emerging and established clients; and importantly, balance my working week having regard to the needs of my young family."
Jessica Morris, Reach Legal Consultant
"Being a consultant with Reach has been a hugely positive experience allowing me to take my career in a different direction. Reach match my skills and experience to client needs. The thing that stands out the most for me is the sense of value-add I have brought to roles and the appreciation clients have expressed for the work delivered - which I know from experience is not something you always get in a permanent role"
Alistair Clevely, Reach Legal Consultant
Frequently asked questions
No. A legal consultant can work with us either via traditional consultancy arrangements (an incorporated legal practice) or as employees.
Legal consultants in the UK are engaged on fixed term contracts We can discuss how this works this during your interview.
No two legal roles we source are the same. Legal consultants may work on familiar subject matters, but adapt to a new organisation or industry approach. Legal consulting offers variety and is a great avenue for expanding your legal skills.
Consulting contracts usually start at 3-6 months. But each contract role is different and contract extensions are common. Length is usually dictated by factors like project deadlines, leave periods or recruitment processes.
Legal consultant jobs come in all shapes and sizes, including part-time. We generally see demand for flex resources to be available between 3-5 days equivalent per week.
That's great. We work with a number of contract lawyers who are in-house legal specialists. Our priority is to help you build the legal career you want through short term contract roles.
In essence, we aim to facilitate opportunities that will support your goals. You may be an employment contract lawyer seeking to change specialties and secure a general commercial lawyer job. You may want specific industry experience. Or you may be at a stage in life where you want the 'flexibility' in 'flexible resourcing' – taking breaks between contracts to pursue other passions, or working less traditional hours or working patterns. Whatever your goals, Ashurst Reach can help you achieve them whilst maintaining an engaging legal career.
A secondment is specifically when you are working in-house on a short-term contract via Ashurst Reach. You will have a direct contractual relationship with Ashurst, and Ashurst will hold the contractual relationship with the client. On secondment, you are fulfilling the clients resourcing needs whilst acting as an ambassador of Ashurst, with the firm's support behind you.
