Mark is identified in international directories as one of Australia's leading environmental lawyers. He is ranked Tier 1 by the Chambers Asia Pacific Guide and was ranked by Best Lawyers as the 2011 Planning and Environment Lawyer of the Year for Sydney and the 2017 Mining Lawyer of the Year.
Mark focuses on servicing the mining sector, in particular assisting clients to obtain all necessary approvals for mining projects and then acting for them in relation to environmental and mining regulatory issues during their operations phase.
He has acted for mining companies in defending many legal challenges to Federal environmental approvals for mine projects in Australia and has a 100% success rate. Mark also regularly assists Ashurst's M&A partners in acting for vendors and purchasers in transactions involving mining assets.
