Sophie practises in the area of environmental and planning law. She has particular experience in energy, resources and infrastructure projects, and acts for a broad range of clients from industry and government.
Sophie specialises in advice on complex regulatory issues, and environmental litigation. She regularly advises on issues such as project approvals, contaminated land, waste, heritage, water, industrial chemicals, crown land and land valuation. She has managed environmental due diligence in relation to infrastructure projects and major private sector acquisitions.
Sophie is experienced in conducting planning appeals and planning scheme amendments, as well as administrative law appeals to the Supreme Court and AAT. She has defended environmental enforcement proceedings by the EPA and the federal Department of the Environment.
Sophie's work in the resources sector includes advice and litigation associated with mineral and petroleum tenements, and the management of environmental issues for mines during the approvals, operational, and closure phases.
