Ashurst advised on eleven prize winning deals at IJGlobal Awards 2020

    The projects to receive awards on which Ashurst advised include:

    • Kaposvar Solar PV Project, which was named European Solar Deal of the Year. A team led by partner Adrian Lawrence advised Bank of China, as arranger, on the project financing of Central Europe's largest solar park - the 100 MW solar park project in Kaposvar, Hungary.
    • Protos EfW project, which was named European Waste-to-Energy Deal of the Year. A team led by partners Cameron Smith and Patrick Boyle advised Covanta Energy, Biffa Waste Services and Macquarie’s Green Investment Group, as sponsors, on the development and project financing of the Protos Energy from Waste facility.
    • A465 road project, which was named European Transport Deal of the Year. A team led by partners Terry Van Poortvliet and Patrick Boyle advised the Future Valleys Consortium, comprising FCC and Meridiam, on all aspects of the A465 road project in Wales.
    • Schleswig-Holstein XMU, which was named European Mass Transit Deal of the Year. Partner Derk Opitz led the team advising Allianz Global Investors GmbH and Société Générale on the financing of alternatively powered multiple units (XMU) for the operation on the networks Nord and Ost in Schleswig-Holstein.
    • ADNOC gas pipelines Galaxy project, which was named MENA Oil & Gas Deal of the Year. A team led by partner Stuart James advised ADNOC on one of the largest global energy infrastructure transactions which will see a consortium of investors invest in select ADNOC gas pipeline assets valued at US$20.7 billion.
    • Cairo Monorail PPP, which was named MENA Transport Deal of the Year. Partner Tom Longmuir led the team advising J.P. Morgan, as initial mandated lead arranger, and UK Export Finance on the landmark €1.9 billion financing for the development of the Cairo Monorail project.
    • Malampaya Gas Field acquisition, which was named Asia Pacific Oil & Gas Upstream Deal of the Year. A team led by partner Alfred Ng advised ANZ and ING, as the mandated lead arrangers and bookrunners, on the financing of Udenna's acquisition of Chevron’s 45% operating interest in the Malampaya gas field.
    • Wandoan Battery Energy Storage System, which was named Asia Pacific Energy Storage Deal of the Year. Partner Dan Brown, with partners Chris Redden and Paul Newman, led the team advising Vena Energy on the debt financing for the Wandoan South Battery Energy Storage System in Australia.
    • Murra Warra Wind Farm Phase 2, which was named Asia Pacific Onshore Wind Deal of the Year. A team led by partner Chris Redden advised a syndicate of lenders and hedge providers on the project financing of the 209 MW Murra Warra Wind Farm (Stage II) in Victoria.
    • Navoi Region Solar PV Plant IPP, which was named Asia Pacific Solar in a Frontier Market Deal of the Year. Partner Tom Longmuir led a team advising Natixis on a facility to National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan JSC guaranteed by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, backstopping offtaker payment obligations for the landmark 100MW Nur Navoi solar photovoltaic IPP.
    • Cote d’Ivoire Hospital & Medical Units Portfolio, which was named African Social Infrastructure Deal of the Year. A team led by partner Tom Longmuir advised Deutsche Bank on the €142 million development financing of a portfolio of priority hospital projects in the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire.
