The projects to receive awards on which Ashurst advised include:
- Temane, which was named African Power Deal of the Year. Partner Tom Longmuir led the team advising Societe Generale on dual World Bank-guaranteed facilities to Electricidade de Moçambique E.P., Mozambique’s national utility, as part of the multi-sourced financing of the 450MW Central Termica de Temane gas-fired IPP sponsored by Globeleq. The project is aligned with the Paris Agreement and is expected to meet 14% of Mozambique’s total electricity demand.
- Fargo Moorhead, which was named Americas P3 Deal of the Year. A team led by counsel Ross McKinnon, and including partners Anna Hermelin and Jason Radford, advised The Metro Flood Diversion Authority in Fargo, North Dakota on a Design Build Finance Maintain P3 model to deliver a 30 mile flood diversion channel - one of the only flood diversion channels in the world to be procured as a P3, and the first in North America.
- Tilt Renewables, which was named Asia-Pacific ESG Deal of the Year. A team led by partners John Brewster and Lynda Tully advised Tilt Renewables on the NZ$3.07 billion sale of its business to the Powering Australian Renewables consortium, comprising of Queensland Investment Corporation, the Future Fund and AGL Energy, in partnership with Mercury NZ - the largest ever renewables transaction in Australia/New Zealand.
- Enfinium, which was named European Deal of the Year. Partner Anthony Johnson led the team advising MIRA and WTI US on the sale of the Wheelabrator UK business to First Sentier Investors, and partners Nick Stalbow and Nigel Ward subsequently led the teams advising Enfinium, the UK waste company formally known as Wheelabrator, on the development and financing of the Skelton Grange and West Bromwich waste to energy plants.
