Dangerously Good Diagramming: Ashurst further embeds digital capabilities with new digital tool Jigsaw

Global law firm Ashurst has implemented Jigsaw, a business diagramming tool, further building on its commitment to delivering extraordinary outcomes for clients and empowering its people with new digital capabilities.

Jigsaw is a corporate diagramming product, allowing users to visually represent complex legal and commercial information in a clear and accurate manner through a straightforward interface.

Tara Waters, chief digital officer at Ashurst, said: "Embedding digital into Ashurst's DNA – a key mandate for me as CDO - is easy to do with a product like Jigsaw. In some cases, teams found they were saving half the time by using it. Law firms are typically time-poor so intuitive tools are crucial components of effective and efficient client delivery."

Nicholas Gardner, a London-based tax partner at Ashurst, said: "Jigsaw is transforming the way we work while ensuring the same level of quality that is essential to client work product. It can be tempting to solely use text as lawyers, but using Jigsaw can make our text much more accessible, setting out complicated concepts in a more digestible manner."

Jigsaw has widely been used by Ashurst's corporate, funds, real estate, dispute resolution and tax teams, as well as business development teams and Ashurst Advance. Jigsaw has been used across all six of Ashurst's divisions and 23 global offices.

Nicholas added: "Our team is really pleased with the ease, quality and consistency of output in deliverables like step papers and structure diagrams for our priority clients. A key feature for me was that Jigsaw automatically aligns entities and connecting lines, saving time producing the diagrams and making processing changes much less hassle. This innovation is saving time and makes our structure notes look much more professional."

Alice Danes, at Jigsaw, said: "We are delighted that Ashurst have chosen Jigsaw as the preferred product after such a thorough evaluation of the market. The bar for both innovation and legal product is extremely high at Ashurst, so we are honoured to add the firm to our roster of over 100 of the world’s leading law firms. None of this would have been possible without Tara, Nicholas and their fantastic team – following the rigorous trial process, the marketing and support of Jigsaw to fee earners has ensured fantastic adoption globally across multiple practice areas."
