Global law firm Ashurst has won Innovation in Improving Client Experience at the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards Europe 2024. The award recognises Ashurst’s work developing and launching Ashurst Origin and XB Adviser, a market first, digital legal advice product for cross border financial institution licensing advice.

The FT Innovative Lawyers Europe awards celebrate the most innovative legal work from law firms and in-house legal teams operating across the region.

Bradley Rice, lead partner on the project and head of technology at Ashurst said:

"The launch of Ashurst Origin and XB Adviser represents a significant leap forward in how clients access legal advice and I'm pleased this has been recognised by the Financial Times. This award is a testament to Ashurst's forward-thinking vision and commitment to be trailblazers, pushing legal and regulatory boundaries to the benefit of our clients and our teams. As always, this was a real team performance, with many clients inputting, and we are delighted to have received this market recognition."

Ashurst Origin and XB Adviser is a first of its kind, providing clients with a single secure solution uniquely tailored for their legal and business entity structures and licensing footprint. The initial success of the product has earned executive buy-in for continuing development of the tool for further areas of law, including ESG, sanctions, employment law, data protection, digital assets and structured products.

Paul Jenkins, Global CEO added: "We are thrilled to be recognised for our work on Origin and XB Adviser in this way. This win underscores our commitment to delivering commercially incisive and innovative solutions in response to rapidly evolving markets, and highlights the fantastic talent we have at Ashurst. We are very proud of this achievement, especially following our recent success at the FT Innovative Lawyers Asia Pacific Awards 2024, where we were named Most Innovative Law Firm Headquartered Outside Asia Pacific."

Ashurst was also labelled as 'Standout' for its Generative AI strategy, following the publication of Ashurst's Vox PopulAI report, which in a market first unveiled robust qualitative and quantitative data on the firm's evaluation of the use of GenAI in the legal sector, and the subsequent global rollout of their first generative AI solution, Harvey.
